A friend bought Musette de Paris as a joke present for me – presumably he found it a 1-€-box of a stall on a Berlin flea market. It was a joke present because I was going to live in France for a while, although it was clear I was going to Marseille, not Paris. I am not particularly sure what Musette de Marseille would sound like. Musette de Paris sounds strange, because thats what it is. According to the liner notes, the originally Viennese waltz developed into different sound directions in Europe’s countries. The Parisian version is a Waltz played with an accordion – but an accordion slighty out of tune.
